A06 - Smart miniaturized shimset

NMR spectroscopy cannot reveal its true enormous potential unless the magnetic field is extremely homogeneous to the extent that its largest variations are significantly smaller than the tiniest spin couplings. In commercial systems, this is achieved by a set of orthogonal shim coils and is limited only to a single sample. So far, there exist no solutions capable of achieving the required homoge-neity in multiple regions within the magnet. Towards achieving the ambitious goals of the CRC, par-ticularly the high throughput, A06 will develop novel solutions based on integrating miniaturized shimsets with the NMR detectors to enable parallel NMR with spectroscopic quality.
